Goodbye Selphiie!

I regret to inform you that as of August 31st 2008,Selphiie has departed the world of Vanadiel. However, the character lives on under new management. From now on, her childhood friend (Me: call me Tek), has taken over all aspects of her character, including her role as the Site admin on FFXI farming. While this may be sad news for most, the site will continue under a trusted real life friend, and the Selphiie character on the Odin Server will continue their adventures in the world of Vanadiel.

Thank You for understanding.

She wants to thank everyone for all the support she has gotten over her years of playing FFXI, and that she will always cherish the memories and friends she has met along the way.

Where is she now? Currently she is spending half a year over in the Phillippines with her family. So she won't even be online.

My name is Tek. 20 Years old. I won't be playing the game as often as she did, but I have as much knowledge of the game, and farming itself to help keep the site running. Currently I am taking a small break from the game to get my life together to prepare for the arrival of my future wife in a few months. If you ever need to contact me I now play as the "Selphiie" character on the Odin server.

Leech Saliva

Location: Sea Serpent Grotto

Target: Royal Leech

Recommended Level: 50

Your target are Royal Leeches and the drop you want is Leech Saliva. With TH3 the drop rate is just amazing, well over 90% drop rate, and they often times enough drop two. The only downside to this is they are not stackable, however a quick trip to Norg to the Standard Merchant: Solby-Maholby to NPC these will ease your inventory pain. These NPC sell for around 352 per Saliva, and that really does add up. I marked where they are on the map, there aren't that few I just put a red dot over areas on the map where you will find 1-3 Leeches. The time i spent there i saw no competition, this may be because it is a weekday at a time where everyone was at work, or it is a pain to get out here, especially with no outpost warp. However i have heard horror stories of fierce competition. Nevertheless, this farming spot deserves an official Selphiie seal of win for being one of the better NPC farming spots since Beast Blood.

After coming down to farm the Clockwork Pods for Magic Pot Shards to make into Cermet, i found a Dragoon was already farming them. Out of boredom i killed Golem and it dropped a Chest Key, i figured i would go hunt the chest just for the heck of it. I knew there were higher level Magic pot mobs in here, however I never really noticed them even after the many trips to Shiva. I decided since i was 75 i might as well kill these Droma for Magic Pot Shards. After a few Dromas I noticed they also dropped an item called Painite. I thought this was just NPC fodder like the other Zircons off the Clockwork pods. While on skype mentioning about NPCing them, a good friend of mine Cyprias pointed out that these Painites sold quickly on the Auction house for 29k EACH. I was surprised, nevertheless when i come here in the future these will be my mobs of choice. I will leave the Clockwork pods for the lower level characters.

Hakutaku Eye Farming - A guide by Fndragon, Diabolos server.

I've farmed around 30 clusters personally, synthed them all myself. This was easily done because I have Beastmaster job at 75, and I also have Alchemy at 100.

General Information:
You'll get about one eye every hour if you monopolize all of the claims. This is with constant killing, and with no Treasure Hunter traits. I've gotten both horribly lucky and horribly unlucky, but it's a good average. Also, this doesn't involve travel times, which are large. Hecteyes detect by sound only, and they don't link. They have two TP moves, Hex Eye (strong paralyze), and Death Ray( magic damage), and they can cast BLM spells according to their level. Also, most of these camps make great NPC levelling areas, since you'll usually be by yourself and the mobs are anywhere between 55 and 77.

Beastmaster Specific:
I'll lay out what local mobs are in the area, but one trick I've found is to charm a hecteye and have it fight another using your help. Once you're finished, your pet should be close to death - simply release it, charm another hecteye, and go to town on your former pet before he disappears and/or regens health. (you've got 10 seconds from when you Leave to re-engage). The downside with this leave -> charm -> fight monster that was "Leave"'d is that you usually don't get any xp because the monster didn't start at 100% health.

Earthen Hakutaktu Eyes - SSG:
These are behind the Mythril Coin door in SSG: Blubber Eyes. Find your way to the pond area, and take the door at the northwest corner of the room. There are 6 spawns, starting at a deadend at I-7 on the Mythril Coin map, and then there are four more along a route with the final two at G-7. These are very low level mobs, and you'll be waiting on the repop timer. Bring Courier Carrie, as the mobs around here suck to charm, unless you want to go back to the pond room and charm a GreatClaw off the bridge to use as a pet (advised if you're REALLY cheap).

Burning Hakutaku Eyes - KRT:
These are in the higher-level section of KRT, accessable through a teleporter on the first map in the southwest corner. Simply get to the teleporter, use it, then hug the right hand wall all the way in and you'll come to a single room with five Thousandeyes. That's it; Five eyes, on a 15 minute timer. The good news is they're weak and easily killable with BST/THF. Local pets are bats and scorpions, which are also low level. You'll pull hate pretty easily, I'd recommend BST/THF, using Signet for evasion bonus and a CourierCarrie jugpet.

Damp Hakutaku Eyes - Ifrit's Cauldron:
There are six total spawns of Dodomeki in Ifrit's, however there is one group of four and one group of two, and they are separated by a vast expanse of aggro and annoyance. I hate farming these eyes the most, as they have the most downtime between fights due to the low # of pops. These are located on Map 7 of Ifrit's Cauldron, around the square room at H-11 (and one more in the hallway to the south). Local mobs are GREAT at killing hecteyes - charm a Scorpion and enjoy the carnage. Mind the bombs and Goblin aggro here, too, I usually invis up to pull the one in the hallway back to the main room to fight it.

Golden Hakutaku Eyes - SSG:
These are the eyes you really can't get "on a whim" of farming. You need to get a Sahagin Key in order to pass through the door to get to where these hecteyes live. The key is gotten with a variety of Beastcoins, see the wiki for exact details; It involves a lot of sneaking around and expense since to repeat the key quest you need to give up a gold beastcoin and a norg shell (which is easily fishable at the pond if you're in need). Once you have the key, you can get in exactly once. You can't open the door from the other side, but if you have friends with you they can get in when you open the door. Once you're inside, walk across the bridge, around the corner, and you should be in a room with lots of sahagin, crabs, bats, and Millioneyes. I prefer to fight in the doorway between the two rooms of Millioneyes, fighting there when possible. Millioneyes are your prey and MIllioneyes are your pets. At least you won't lack for respawns, they're all over the place up there. The crabs are "OK" but it's best to wear two hecteyes down at the same time.

Wooden Hakutaku Eyes - Den of Rancor:
You need the "Paintbrush of Souls" to get to the correct portion of this zone. I think that's a part of the ZM's, or somehow related. Anyway, you've gotta truck through the Temple of Ugglepih, back out to Jhoator, back in to Ugglepih, kill a "Temple Guardian" to open a door, dodge the Manipulator, then use the "Paintbrush of Souls" (while in first person view, waiting for a minute before confirming) to open the door to the Den of Rancor.

And *then* it gets difficult.

Well, sorta. To get to the eye camp from the zone entrance, sneak/invisible up, and just head due south. Watch for holes in the ground (don't fall), and if you keep heading south as often as you can you'll see your first Millioneyes. Once there head north and you'll be at the actual Hakutaku spot where there are lots of Tough - Decent Challenge Millioneyes. Oh, and avoid aggro on the way - there are sound-detecting slimes and bats, and sight-detecting Tonberries along the way. Pets are other Millioneyes, but watch out for pulling hate - these Millioneyes aren't afraid to use Thundaga 3 to ruin your day. Also, at this camp you'll learn to hate the Millioneyes' resistance to Charm. These are, on average, Even Match, which means if you are a Multi-tasking Beastmaster, you can skill up on your other weapons while farming - you won't pull hate with an underlevelled weapon

Find a Light Crystal and a Fiend Blood (both findable on the AH and other places), and find a friendly Alchemist at level 84+ to synth it. If the synth fails, ALL 5 eyes will be lost 100% of the time.

As far as farming this for money goes, the current rate (July '08, Diabolos server) is about 300k per cluster. It's not bad, but considering it takes me on average 5-10 hours per cluster (including travel times, etc), and the cost of teleports, keys, and reraise gorgets (YES, YOU NEED THESE), it's a bargain to just buy the damn thing. Go do an ISNM for money and buy them off some bazaar or something. Seriously, after a few hours of fighting hecteyes for their eyeballs, I start feeling more than a little crazy. The drop rate is pretty horrible, the mobs can cast huge magic damage spells, their paralyze is incredibly potent, and most jobs other than Beastmaster have a VERY hard time soloing these for profit. I would not recommend farming these otherwise on any other job due to the difficulty.

A Word On "E-Drama"

I have always wondered why people do it. Is it an epeen thing? Because the way I see it boils down to "It's just a video game."

Let me break it down a little bit:

You are sitting in Dragon's Aery, Fafnir spawns, you lose the claim, a non-botting LS claimed it and you are mad. What do you do? Well to the normal Drama queens after failed attempts at MPKing with Darters you begin to talk in /say or /shout.

Now there is a maturity issue there. You are so E-butthurt for losing a NM that you try to distract the people who got it by trying to get to them in /say. Why? Is it because you are 40 years old still living with your mom and have nothing better to do with your life than to sit at your computer and waste your life trying to hurt someones feelings online?

So let me start it off by talking about another person. You will NEVER know these people in real life except in dire situations where they happen to live around you or you already have a pre-existing relationship with this person in real life. So instead of worrying so much about trying to fight/argue/offend someone who lives thousands of miles away and someone you may NEVER see in real life, why waste your time? Trust me, you may think you are big and bad, but really you are just some dude/dudette behind a keyboard safe in his/her room, who thinks they are cool because they can talk shit using their fingers.

This brings me to a point i will be sure to make a few times in this post: Sit and think before you get into E-drama, sit and think, in 10 years, will any of this stuff matter? Will you have an award for being the big man behind the keyboard who was big and bad BEHIND A KEYBOARD 10 years from now. 10 years from now when you have a family and a job, will any of it matter?

We are all the same, we are virtual pixelated characters on a screen and you are no better than anyone else. You want to go on KI and flame somebody because they dont use HQ Mahatma legs for their Black Mage. I bet that person you are flaming has a life, gets laid, goes out and enjoys himself. When he gets home he sits down and plays FFXI for a hobby, a recreation, not because it is the only life he has. Sure people who play for recreation walk around in Ares gear from Salvage and can balance their social/game life, but its the people who log in everyday at 7am and don't log off till 11pm that night that walk around in Ares gear thinking they are just all that on this virtual world.

Which leads me to items. These items have no money value (Except to RMT, unless its RAR/EX). So do not get all heated because JoeSchmoe outlotted you on an item that you wanted. Yeah, its only human to feel disappointed, but don't go off on drama and say "He only got this because he is cybering with the LS leader,blah blah blah"

Sit down and relax, and think again "It's just a video game". This is a virtual world, and these items are nothing but pixels on a screen. So why stress over it?

This brings me to online forums. Why? I go on Killing Ifrit sometimes for crafting, but i have noticed how people do nothing but flame eachother. Now for those people:

"Don't you have ANYTHING better to do with your life?"

These people will literally sit there for hours and just flame eachother. They stretch their online epeens. Let me say this again: You are behind a keyboard, safe in your room, you think your cool but seriously, before you go trying to flame people or get into E-DRAMA at all, take a look outside. It is a sunny day, people your age are out working with jobs, playing football on their lawns, hanging out with friends, and you would rather sit at your computer and try to hurt someones feeling and try to get the last word on a video game forum for a video game that won't be around for your whole lifetime? Go work out, go do a different hobby, go call up an old flame, spend time with your family, whatever, but don't waste your time trying to hurt someones feelings.

In conclusion and i want to leave this with people who are guilty of extreme E-DRAMA:
"Don't you have ANYTHING better to do with your life?"

Aht Urghan Partys!

So i was in this party the other day with this Dragoon, now keep in mind as a Dragoon, you are lucky to get an invite in the first place so no complaining. So level 70~ish and the usual Aht Urghan camps are packed. Caedarva Mire itself had an upwards of atleast 90+ People with more than 10 exp partys. Bibiki Bay though, was completely empty, not a single party. So the party leaders decides to go there. Well, the Dragoon had to step in and say "Bibiki Bay, No Thanks" (The DRG in my Screenshots is not said DRG)

Now that really grinds my gears.

The Dragoon wants to party in Aht Urghan and compete for mobs from 10 other exp partys, wanting to add 6 more bodies to the already vast number of people in the zone, when we could go to a Conquest zone, with absolutely no competition on mobs, and get the same exp we would get if we were to stand there with huge downtime between pulls because mobs spawn purple.

The people with the Aht Urghan only mentality most likely started the game AFTER TOAU expansion, so of course all they know is Aht Urghan, they do not know the days of when it used to be chain 5, and then rest to full, with skillchains and Altana forbid, Magic Bursts.

We had a Red Mage complain that our party setup around lvl 66~ish was not 4 melee a bard and him as Red Mage. It was a more balanced setup in Mount Zhayolm. PLD,THF,DRK,BRD,RDM,WHM. 3 Front line jobs, 3 Back Line jobs. So the Red Mage actually just sat there and complained until he left how if he wasn't getting X number of exp/hr (it was pretty high) that he would leave. That just sickened me, and his line was "I am not happy with this party setup", and we are all sitting there like "Why are you complaining? This is a balanced party setup for this lvl, we aren't 75 we aren't DDs who sub /nin and bounce hate on greater colibri, no this is a lvl 66 party on crawlers"

It has gotten to the point where every DD seeking at merit lvl will not accept an invite unless there is a Bard in the party. They even go as far as to put in their /seacom "Burn Party Only, No Bard, No Thanks" I really have nothing but bad things to say about these spoiled kids who have this burn party only mentality, but i won't say it here because I am not a hostile person =) I just think people are getting way too spoiled. The extreme side of it was I have actually seen people with /seacoms saying "Don't invite me unless its Greater Colibri"

News Flash: Greater Colibri are not the only merit mobs in the game. There are only two camps with about 10,000+ 75s on this server.

When merit partys are formed they search an area.

Party Leader: "Hmmm... Bhaflau thickets ONLY has 103 People, lets go there."
Other Guy: Ummm... I don't want to compete for mobs, look there is not a single person in Ulegurand Range, lets go up there.
Party Leader: No, Aht Urghan Only, lets just try to run another party out of their camp.

You hate it when people camp on you or try to run you out of a camp, why do it to someone else? Why not just go to somewhere less crowded? Who knows, but with more and more people advancing to 75 post-Aht Urghan, and more and more noobs being powerleveled out of the dunes, expect to see alot more of these "Spoiled Colibri Brats" during your merit level experiences.

What Do I Do?

Nothing but campaign lately. Even while seeking with a Bard static partner the invites do get pretty slow. I'm actually almost 71 with nothing but campaign. Although i will admit I have joined the choir as subjob Bard just singing because I have noticed spamming songs constantly gets me more exp than actually going out to fight. Like i have gotten 6-7k from Song spamming, and doing a similar campaign doing fighting as 70THF/NIN where i will only get 1-1.3k. I read in the interview that the "Song/Buff Spamming" will be gimped so i might as well make the best of it when i don't feel like getting owned.

I have finished all the WOTG missions so far, really great epic cutscenes. SE did a spectacular job with these cutscenes. In the past cutscenes it was kind of bland with just characters moving their mouths and blah blah, but in WOTG they actually put forth the effort for more advanced facial expressions and made it a little more cinematic and better to watch. I LOVE Lilisette though. I am in love with this NPC, she is so beautiful, SE did a beautiful job with this NPC, I think i am in love with her, and want to marry her. Even though we can't women can't marry other women in this game, especially NPC ones.

So my life has come under alot of pressure, i really have no idea how to jump start my life, everytime i go do something, nothing gets accomplished and i sit back down on the game after a long day of nothing. I mean i just keep going on with dead end coursework at a community college. All i do is just take classes, no guidance, no idea what im doing or where i am going. I just wish i can look forward in time and see where i am supposed to be. I am in control of my own life, but i guess i need a little guidance on how to work the controls. Already past 20 years of life, and while everyone else is getting jobs, almost finishing college, getting married, etc, I still have no idea what im supposed to do, or who i am supposed to be. It does get frustrating, and maybe one day I will know.

So with THF I am having a bit of an issue with Dagger choices, right now I am wearing a Hoplites Harpe and a Behemoth knife, but apparantly this isn't good enough at lvl 70 because i keep getting /sigh emotes from THFs who check me in Whitegate. Keep in mind I am not even 75 yet and am not wearing the gear i plan on wearing, like Dusk and stuff, so of course my gear isn't as great as a 75THF, but soon though soon.

As for now i am dead tired, i have been having trouble sleeping lately. Even with some nighttime sleeping aid pills its hard to sleep. I have found a way that helps me get to sleep actually and that is to have West Ronfaure music playing. I don't know why but that music is like a sleep aid for me it puts me to sleep right away. I also have to be somewhat cold as im sleeping so i turn my fan to max and try not to sleep with a blanket.

What conditions do you have to meet in order to get to sleep? (and dont be boring and just say "I just put my head down =P)

So i finally got around to gearing up by 63THF, (Currently 65 now). People always asked
how I have a farming site and not have THF leveled. Well now i do! Or I will, soon.

I already have alot of key pieces of gear such as Swift Belt and Optical hat, and Raparee Harness.

I have a heartsnatcher i need to work on unlocking. (Yay >_<), and then I need to work on Evisceration once i get to that point. Sad I have a 75BRD and I still haven't done Evisceration, but since when am I allowed to use Dagger as BRD anyway?! It's really nice leveling THF because I am in a small static with a BRD friend Usui of the Odin Server. However it is his first job so we have to take a little break at 70 and wait for him to beat BRD Maat. (Yay >_<)

But hey its a free March and Minuet! (Or Madrigal, depends on the mob)

I love Warriors but, sometimes they do kind of like to gimp themselves. For example, i was in a merit
party not too far back when we invited a Warrior. The Warrior had a GA and his damage output was just horrible,
and was only using the WS "Full Break". When we asked him about it we found out his GA skill was horribly underleveled.
This was at the Nyzul Isle Greater Colibri camp. So we were like "Dude, this is a merit burn, not a skill up party".
Don't get me wrong I love great axe warriors, but i think if you level warrior the /nin Dual-Axe way, atleast
try to keep GA skilled as you go.

You know what i also hate! Lol, tanks who keep hate really really well. Like "Come on guys, i brought 3 stacks of
Shiehi out here for what?!" No im kidding, the best thing about THF is taking all the emnity and slapping it onto
the tank. With my Emnity merits its no problem. I also have a resentment cape which is +2 Emnity. People argue
both ways which is better to Trick Attack with Amemet Mantle+1 or Resentment cape. I'll go with the cheaper
alternative. Although my THF won't be so cheap once i hit the Dusk levels. Dusk Hands I'm planning on getting,
I'm not sure about Dusk Feet though since I have a pair of Relic Feet. Homan is kind of out of the option until
i can find a Limbus shell again.

Right now I am playing outside in the sun, it is really nice. I have a really nicely shaded Gazebo in my backyard.
I just plug in my laptop and there is also a fan in here and its really nice and cool. I like having a change of scenery
when I play, it is alot better than being cooped up in my room. I also live near a Naval Air Station so i love
the jet noise sometimes. Unless I have a Migraine.

Right now my neighbors are havign a barbeque and they are Filipino so they have some nice Filipino music playing.
I'm half filipino so of course I'm going to enjoy some music as I play, what a really beautiful day!

Recommended Level: A Party of 75s
or two skilled mages. (In these screenshots a 75BLM and a 75SCH)

These are found on Vozold Island, you need to run past the pudding camp, into Halvung and back out to get here. These are good chain enders since there are only 4 on the island with a 30 minute respawn. If you are in a manaburn duo or trio here i do suggest killing them for that extra gil to pay for those Melon Pies+1, or if you are living the rich life already using Crimson Jelly. I actually came out here on the rumor that these drop Dragon Hearts and Dragon meats. So far from my research on the creatures I have come out empty handed. Although I have never actually come out here with Treasure Hunter. I have seen normal party setups on these for those risky Blue mages who wish to learn Body Slam with a challenging mob indeed.

So apparently these are the only NQ mobs that drop Dragon hearts and meats. The only other mobs in the game being Dragon/Wyrm based BCNMs and HNM Wyrms. Like i said I have yet to see proof outside of it just saying on the wiki that these drop them. Until then I will just post this up here for those manaburn partys looking to make a little pocket change as they exp.

Farming Princess VS Odin

So the day my LS "Orionsdoor" has been waiting for: The Showdown with Odin himself. He was mean, let me tell you, he was really mean. You'd think we could just group up and push his horse over and start hitting him with weapons.

"Okay! on the count of three, we push the horse over! Bards, run in and hit him with your sticks!"

So i'm leveling Red Mage right now. I know i said Scholar was going to be my last 75, but something about Red mage screams "HEY, LEVEL ME!" So i listened to the voices in my head and am going through the whole leveling process again. You know, "Noob Partys"

There is one thing i can't tolerate with party leaders. If you lead a party, you are the leader, you decide where to go, what the setup is, and what to kill. What i hate, are people who just throw together random jobs, and then go "So where do we camp". Be a follower before a leader folks.

So besides game, i went to taco bell today. I love taco bell, if it was my choice, i would eat taco bell every single day. I can do that since no matter what i eat i cant gain weight above 95lbs. I'll prob have some freak heart attack by my mid 20's probably. I had a taco salad and some chalupas. Of course it came with the default hard tacos, which after the taco salad i was already full. I have such a small stomach, my eyes get hungry, but my stomach just cant eat as much as my eyes thinks it can.

Went to a local game store to check out soem xbox 360 titles. I wanted to pick up a game for my PSP/Nintendo Wii, but didn't see anything good. I ended up picking up a copy of N3, its essentially a beefed up "Dynasty Warriors" game. You know hack and slash, going up against hundreds of people and just busting through them mashing the A button.

Another game like that on the old xbox was Kingdom Under Fire, which was alright, i only played like skirmish mode or whatever where i would always have this huge army against an easy AI because im a noob like that.

I just woke up from a long sleep. I wasn't able to get to sleep until around 7AM. Surprisingly enough it wasn't FFXI that kept me awake. I decided to go a little back in time and bust out Command and Conquer Red Alert 2. RTS games can be addicting at times, especially when you are playing against really retarded AI.

I really need to get back on a decent sleep schedule though. Sometimes i will go to sleep at 11pm, sometimes i won't be asleep till 9am the next morning. I blame the addiction to FFXI for my crappy sleep schedule and also my habit of getting odd jobs that have weird shifts. The worst part about having a bad sleep schedule is I never find time to actually be hungry. So when it is time to actually eat I'm not actually hungry. Make sense? I probably should start to eat alot more, I weighed myself at 93 lbs last night.

Not like splurging for food will do me any good. No matter what I eat i can't seem to gain weight past 95lbs, must be an Asian thing. I can scarf down sushi and it wont add any weight. I'm like a bottomless pit, where does it all go? Come on! I want to gain weight!

As for the game itself, hasn't been much happening. I was trying to get heavy into ZNMs but it just hasn't stuck really. I help out alot, but haven't really gotten into it as religiously as alot of people have already. Lately I've been just crafting to have gil stored away. I probably should keep working on relic since i really don't know why im collecting such large amounts of gil for. I just keep farming, and gil keeps getting packed onto a mule, and i don't buy anything.

A good friend of mine Tabasheer of Odin told me once, the best way to make gil is to never spend. I swear i need to level a gil expendable job like Ninja. I have Corsair leveled to 75, but honestly I never use Corsair anymore. I actually sold all my Corsair gear to make room for Scholar gear. I am cleaning out my Mog House though to make room for Dancer gear, since i for some reason have an ambition to finish Dancer from 62 to 75. When WOTG came out i was one of those many many Dancers on the server who tried leveling fast. So of course when you did a search of your party levels to form a party 96% of them would either be Dancers or Scholars.

I think that was the best time to level a job that gets less invites like DRK or DRG, because people would be begging for DDs amidst all the Dancers/Scholars seeking.

Anyway I think i am going downstairs to make some instant ramen. I don't make it normally though. Whenever i just get the instant ramen packs I usually do a few different things, I either:

1) Crush the noodles and put the sauce in the bag and eat it like chips
2) Crush the noodles and cook it normally
3) Throw it in the microwave with no veggies/meat or anything
4) Take the time to add some extras like veggies/meat and stove-cook it
5) Stare at it until i just shrug and make some eggs

Eft Skin

I kill these while waiting for the manaclipper to go to P.Isle where the real farming is. However for those of you who have no desire to travel to the isle, this can be a decent spot to farm. The Eft skin sells for cheap, but sells decently for around 1k gil each. I can tell you now don't expect a beautiful drop rate, especially as /thf with onyl TH1. Atleast with my experience the drop rate was pretty bad. You may get lucky and get an H.Q Eft skin which sell for a little better.

However for those of you who know what im about to say, you probably are Eft Veterans.

Intulo...

These Efts are a lottery spawn of a NM that drops the Magic Slacks, (And Curaga earring, but thats the NPC fodder item). My experience, even on weekends i never had competition while farming these/camping Intulo. The respawn on the Efts is 5 minutes, so MAYBE you can handle one other competition, but more than two farmers out here, nah, there isn't enough Efts and you should go somewhere else.

For those of you who know of better places to farm, this isn't the spot for you. For more patient farmers who want to camp the NM for these slacks to sell for some nice pocket change while getting more chumps change off the Eft Skins, then this is where you should be.

Uragnite Shell

These are nasty, but plenty of them to farm. Uragnite shells on this server sell for around 9-10k each, and from my experience with /thf, the drop rate isn't bad, but it isn't great. I've yet to see testimonies from anything above TH1 though.

When inside their shell, they spam a poison TP move which is 24/hp poison, it can get very nasty, they also have a high regen rate, i was counting 2% tick and quick. My experience here was as 75SCH/37THF. I waited until the Uragnite was out of its shell before aggroing it. Starting off with a Blizzard IV I normally pushed it down to around 30% or lower. After the first Blizzard IV it will go in its shell where I will smash it back out with Tier III spells, Blizzard III and Thunder III, 99% of the time during the Thunder III it would emerge from its shell where the T3 would actually just finish it off. I found a great camp that has a Viscous Clot that roams around every 5 minutes you can kill for the plasma.

Prepare to spend some time out on this island though. This island isnt for short farming sessions, expect a little dedication while coming out here to farm. You will walk away with a pretty good haul with the patience.

These also drop White Sand, which you can NPC sell for around 200 gil. That pays for the transaction fee for putting the Shells on the Auction house.

Clot Plasma

This is rough, but sells really well. Because of the time and patience it takes to actually get to this island you won't have too much competition. However if there is competition, don't bother at all.

There are only two spawns on P. Isle, and one on the boat itself, but don't actually camp the one on the boat, if it happens to be there and you get a Clot Plasma, then yay!

The drop rate is just horrible, but for you cooks its great profit actually using this to make Crimson Jelly.

For those of you who are not cooks they still sell quick and pretty well. Between spawns i do suggest killing the Uragnites, which i will explain in a different post.

Notes:

I stuck the moblins and bugbear as alternative targets because farming a coffer key off those isn't as safe as doing them off the bats. Moblins will check DC-T to a lvl 75 Character, and while that can be easily solod with skill/patience, the moblins are so grouped together that not getting a link is almost impossible, and while the bats may be in linking range they are easier to handle. For anyone for survivability it may be best to sub /dnc instead of /thf, and while it does take away treasure hunter, it does kill alot of downtime. THF/DNC is nice here too. I wouldn't suggest coming down without a partner/some form of healing/NPC Fellow. Keep in mind opening the coffer for the first time will only land you a map, which would be good for you in the long run if you enjoy hunting this coffer you will be better associated with the zone. Bring a friend along who can main THF or /thf will be good for killing off the moblins, maybe slowly get a merit or two/buffer in the process. Of course Beastman drop gil and having gilfinder will land you gil, although unoticeable it does pay for your chocobos/airship/whitegate warp fees/etc. This is a very very dangerous zone even for 75s, but those who find income with coffer chests may enjoy this zone alot.

This is mostly aimed for those BLM pet soloers who normally just drop the coffer key when it is dropped off the Goblin's bat. If you get a coffer key and you have no competition or no chance of someone stealing your camp (Make sure its marked on your /seacom!!) Take a minute to hunt down the coffer chest for some gil. Hey, it pays for those Melon Pies+1 and you still have money in your pocket for later.

Hickory Lumber

Not going to lie here, the drop rate on the lumber is miserable, and almost not worth it. However, this is aimed for more patient farmers who also have woodworking leveled. Two of these lumbers can be crafted into a Hickory Shield, which can be used to spawn Gration for a Tatami shield, and THAT is where the profit is. Either that or you can try bazaaring the shield (or if you don't have woodworking, bazaaring the lumber) wherever your major Jeuno bazaar zone is, (Batallia downs being Odin's Bazaar zone). No downside really, except the occasional competition, however there are countless Gigas and 5 minute respawns, having 3-4 other farmers you won't really notice it as long as you cooperate a bit. The gigas also drop gil which adds up if you are there for awhile. 100-250~ish gil each.

The discovery of Ahriman came around when i was duoing with a friend on Demon pets in Castle Zvahl Baileys. There would always be this pesky Morbid Eye that would get in the way of clean pulls. Luckily for us, Kallo was romping around in the zone, and he sent me a /tell asking if I would like that eye cleared out, because he knew how pesky that thing can get. After a few times clearing it i noticed another THF running around killing the Morbid Eyes in the area. After doing a little research i found out that the drops from the Ahriman type mobs were going for a pretty penny.

Coming back later as PLD/THF, the drop rate wasn't as great with TH1, but it wasn't horrible. However looking more into it i found the 4 Morbid eyes around the teleporter in the keep and the Deadly Iris' near the throne room have a 50% Drop rate on the Ahriman tears. They also drop wings, and for Alchemists, the lens. For 75s you don't get aggro from the demons for they con too weak/low low EP, so you can easily romp around from the bottom 4 Morbid Eyes in the Keep to the Deadly Iris at the top. Usually no competition since the trip is just so tedious.

Treant Bulbs/Herb Seeds

Heya, Selphiie here with a new entry into the farming guide. While i was farming Herb seeds to Garden i never thought twice about the treant bulbs, I usually just tossed them away, however one morning i spent so much time running around the crag of mea i didn't really get bothered enough to toss them. After warping back to Whitegate i realize they sell for 2k a stack. It isn't much to a higher level character, but for lower level characters thats enough for your leather/scale/whatever gear. The drop rate was decent with only Treasure Hunter 1, i got a bulb about every other Sapling. If you aren't after Herb seeds for Gardening i suggest selling them on the AH, they sell fast (currently selling for 6k a stack). However you may benefit more from Gardening with them. Take an Earthen flowerpot (cheap only 900gil at a vendor in Windurst) and a Fire Crystal and Garden, with any luck you will score a stack of 12 Tarutaru rice which you can either sell or if you are a high level cook, use to make Sushi. Well, this technically isn't traditional farming but I thought you might putit up 'cause anyone can do it from beginners and up and thegil/hr ratio isamazing. Anyway, what I've been doing lately is going to Port Windurst andbuying a hume rod (or bamboo) and a couple stacks of insect balls (can beless expensive than AH). I then go to Windurst Walls' AH and start fishingmoat carp right next to it. I'm on Ragnarok so I can't speak for otherservers but these sell extremely fast do to people going for the Lu Shangfishing rod and the sell prices rarely drop. On average I sell them for 3k astack and I can net anywhere from 30k to 50k in 2 hours, it's quite amazing.My tips on doing this from my experience is to start off catching everything(except maybe gold carp, especially with bamboo rod 'cause it will break) sothat you can get a feel for the difference between rusty items and the moatcarp (doing this won't hurt income too badly, rusty buckets sell for about50g to npc so it's not terrible). Once you have that down, try to avoidcatching anything but moat carp, this may sound stupid since gold carp sellfor 300g a piece to npc and rusty buckets 50g but some high level fishermansay that weight and type of fish can effect your fishing fatigue and from myexperience that seems to be mostly true. It also may be a good idea to stopat every stack completion to put them on the AH, they really do sell THATfast, in between stacks you have a good chance to have sold the previous one(also, considering the fact that most people going for the Lu Shang rod willuse a mule to check the AH, they will often check every hour or half-hour soyou never know when they will pop in to check the AH). Another thing that'shappened to me which is extremely helpful is that sometimes you will get atell from someone who has seen you selling moat carp repeatedly on the AH(by checking sale history) and they will offer to make a deal with you.Usually this entails selling exclusively to them for a slightly lower pricefor a limited time but this often gaurantees fast sales and you make afriend out of it who might help you out if you plan to go for the Lu Shangrod eventually. Anyway, this is a very fast money maker and it requires nofishing skill level to start so anybody can do it really.

Dhalmel Hair

Currently on the Odin server the Dhalmel Hair sells for 4k each and 30k a stack. They sell because Clothcrafters use them to make Cilice for Gobbiebag Quest VIII. They NPC sell for around 600gil but they do sell decently indivudally. The meat and femurs are just an added bonus if you have the inventory space.

Gausebit Grass

Gausebit Grass is your main target here from the crane flys, my favorite area was around the outpost. You may have to wander a bit to get them but the drop rate on the Gausebit Grass is incredible even without Treasure Hunter, and can even sometimes drop two. This is really good for lower level characters looking for quick gil. They don't sell on the AH all to well, what you want to do with the Grass is stack them up and sell them to the NPC in a place where you have the best fame, they NPC sell for 200gil with low fame, 204 gil with higher fame, a 4 gil difference, Oh boy. Lol. Anyway a stack of grass will sell at a NPC for 2,400. It isn't much but it does add up and like I said, great for lower level players looking for quick gil.

Khroma Ore

SE has been looking into RMT Miners who POS Hack around the mining spots in Mount Zhaloym, the Khroma ore is a very rare find but completely worth it. Before mining in Mount Zhaloym you may want to come as Ninja Main job or subjob for Tonko:Ichi/Ni, if not prism powders and silent oils work just fine, just be careful of aggro while mining. Khroma ore sells really quick because they are used to make Imperial Wootz Ingotz. However because of this RMT and legit players alike are exploiting this and the price of the Khroma ore itself is dropping. In a few weeks i saw it drop from 500k to 300k. Also when coming out here it is advised you do the Mount Zhayolm map quest and get the key item to open the Gates of Halvung seeing as MOST of the mining points are behind the gates themselves. If you are using magic for invis and sneak be careful of magic aggro mobs (Bombs), if you are subbing dancer be careful of job ability aggro mobs (Puddings). Invisible will get you by the Hilltrolls, Sneak will get you by slimes and Wamoura, which are true sound, so take care.

Boyahda Moss

Things To Remember While Farming

Remember these things when you farm:

-Don't get stressed out, theres no pressure, especially if your competing with another farmer. You will find if you cooperate you will get along alot better. I remember farming Manticores against a THF we would both go for the same mob and i would back off and let him have it. He saw i was killing every other manticore and letting him have them, he started doing the same for me.

-Grab a snack, grab a rl friend and play your Gamecube, talk on the phone, but just dont stare at your TV screen/monitor all day or else you will get bored very easily. I hear alot of people complain about how farming is boring. Well it can be,if you let it, I doubt it gets very boring when you open your delivery box to see the gil flow in and you smiling and happy onceyour able to buy the things you want.

and it raises Aht Urghan fame. This is really just for a side item to farm as you exp/merit hope the imp wings drop onto you... although at 75, 200 gil should be chump change lol.

Trading 2 bat wings will land you 200gil, which a stack of 12 bat wings will land you 1,200gil. There really is no competition since bats are found almost everywhere in Vanadiel. It also helps raise Sandorian fame for those who need it.

Buburimu Peninsula is great for lower level players looking to make quick gil. The Poison leeches are on a 5 minute respawn and live on the beaches. There are more leeches on the Bibiki Bay side of Buburimu than the Onzozo side. If you are around 25 you may want to watch out for Blood Aggro from nearby ghosts that spawn on the beaches at night, but it shouldnt be a problem if your careful. The leeches drop Bird blood which NPC sell for close to 400 gil, and the drop rate is just amazing, seeing two drop is very common.

Heres my strategy for higher level players, go to the beach near Onzozo, kill the leeches out there, then run inside to Onzozo, right inside the zone is a path filled with leeches. The Bird blood drop rate with the Labyrinth Leeches are a little better than the Buburimu leeches, you can walk out into the room with the cockatrices to kill the leeches that wander into that room. Once you are done with that, zone back out, by then the leeches on the beach will have respawned.

A stack of bird blood will sell for close to 4,800, it doesn't sound like much, but say you walk out after 2 hours with 12 stacks of bird blood, thats 57,600 gil. The drop rate on the bird blood is so amazing i would say you would walk out after 2 hours with MORE than just 12 stacks. However, people are smart and do the same, so competition might be around and kill your gil/hr, if there is, just move to another beach.

This is a fairly simple quest, trade 4 ladybug wings for 3k and it is repeatable. So for a stack of ladybug wings you get 9k, which does add up. Biddybugs have a better drop rate, almost around 90% from my experience, this is WITHOUT Treasure hunter also. However Biddybugs aggro lvl 75 Characters so i would not suggest doing this below 75. East Ronfaure[S] is lower level farming friendly.

The only downfall is that you can only trade 3 fangs at a time. This will take a little time especially if you have a lot of stacks but in the end, it is still faster than waiting for AH sell imo. Also raises your Sandy fame!

Goblins

Scrolls/Gil/Goblin items + steal Mythril Beastcoin

Suggested level: 45 for the glacier, 55+ for Castle Z/Gustav

Goblin Reapers drop decent gil with TH, and can drop Goblin Helm/mail (AH pretty fast for 1k in rabao or desynth if u can) and can drop abs. agi/vit/int spells which npc for ~1.5k gil, and stun which npc 1.5-3k gil depending on fame. In the desert, near the outpost/pond are 2-4 reapers (along with other goblins) and some spiders. These spiders (around G-8/9) are PH for Dune widow, which will probably not drop the spider torque (150k, but 1/12) but you might get some spider webs (2.5k usually and sell FAST!) The scrolls ARE Rare, so after gettin 3-4 you gotta go unload em to npc, unless you have farming buddy. Also remember to steal from the goblins every chance you get in order to start stacking up Mythril Beastcoins which usually go for 10k+ on AH depending on server.

Think of this as a bonus when you're farming Gil from the Gigas here. Check the spawn area of Shadow Dragon and if it's up, kill it, drops over 1k gil upon death (more with Gilfinder) and keep note of ToD of the dragon when you do. Spawn is every 30 mins, if the big NM pops, leave it alone.

I think for me and a lot of people, this was the first reliable source of income back when silk threads were like 1k each. For some reason it seems the lowest level crawlers drop silk much faster than higher level ones. Farm these crawlers from a set path near the J-7 Horutoto tower, running west up the path north, then circle back east towards the zone to Tahrongi, then drop down south again. With any luck, maybe Spini Spipi will pop and you'll get a Mist Silk Cape too, though you should be around 20 if you're attempting to solo it. I also think that low level craft farming is profitable too, as I usually wait until I have a few stacks of lightning crystals, then farm the Yagudos as I'm farming the crawlers. Yagudo bead necklaces don't stack, but craft it with a lightning crystal into a copper ingot and you can sell stacks of those for 3-4k each. This is the basic path that I take. The red area doesn't really have any yagudos or crawlers, but since i sub /thf i just flee past it.

Ok the way that this works is it uses "M" in H.E.L.M. and a low level area to a lower players advantage. When starting off in Bastok in any job one thing i reccomend is doing the quests in the area to gain faim (lowers pickaxe cost). Then grab a stack of pickaxes and head off to the mines. I used this area from levle 1-7 and it worked fairly well. Bats drop wind crystles, wings and Zeruhn Soot. Crystles can be saved or sold for crafting needs wings you can use in a Sand O'ria quest 2 for 200 gil(repeatable), and soot can be traded 3 for 150 gil(repeatable) right outside of the mines to Gerbaum @(F-. Worms drop copper ore, zinc ore, silver ore, flint stones (craft or quest them in bastok markets Aquillina K-9 4 for 100 gil). Mineing drops: Iron Ore Common (sell at the AH or ask a smither to craft for you) Copper Ore Uncommon (Sell or synth) Pebble Uncommon (Sell to NPC 1g only) Zinc Ore Rare (AH or use with copper to make brass ingots) Silver Ore Rare (AH or Synth) Tin Ore Rare (AH or Synth) Snapping Mole Rare (Sells to npcs for about 300+ gil) Darksteel Ore Rare (this is the money maker you can AH these bad boys for 10k on some servers maybe even more) I also suggest in investing in the level 1 gear that improves mineing results. This may not be the fastest way to do it but it can make alot of money in the long run.

This is my farming spot when I need the gil (or Sneak Oil). I would suggest to sub THF to 25 for Flee because it is a large area to kill. But if not, at least have TH. These jelly's oil drop 1 oil almost every other kill or 2. If you are lucky enough, you may get 2 to drop from one jelly. To start, begin in the middle of the entire area (The Bridge, it's the only place on the path where you'll see water.) From there, choose west or east, and start jelly bashing. When you finish one side of the slaughter, Flee to the other side, bash, flee, bash, and continue till you get tired. If you don't have Flee, it still works, it's just slower. If you are the only one farming jelly, you'll have almost a constant stream of kills and a bunch of oil to show for it.

You can fish until "fatigued" and make anywhere from 120-140k per night, depending on your catches.

Devil Manta can be fished up about every 12~15 min. it is a rare drop though (about 10%), but all you need is one, b/c it sells for close to 500k on AH. these are highly sought after by high level crafters of cursed equipment. this is not suggested unless you have a large block of time to devote to farming, otherwise you will most likely leave empty-handed but patience will be rewarded. i should note that this was heavily camped by RMT back when i farmed these, which has been a long while.

It is probably the only place I've technically farmed (though it was for crafting). The bees have about a 50% drop on chips with TH1. Even if you one-shot the bees, the path you take allows them to just start respawning as you get back to the beginning. This isn't too big of a secret. If you have competition, go somewhere else.

This spot is one of my favorites. These manticores crap Hairs that sell for 4k REALLY fast, they usually sell as soon as i put them up. Hides sell for 2k a pop but not as quickly, and fangs, just NPC sell those for 600gil. Theres a circuit of Manticores you run, from the beginning of Kuftal Tunnel there are 2 in that area, follow your right hand wall there are 2 until you reach the end of the map. Follow the map down there will be one wandering in the open. You will hit a wall that where 2 more are hiding. Make a swing near Revelation rock for 2 manticore spawns there, then run back to Kuftal where the original 2 will have already respawned.

Take Azouph Isle Staging point and follow your left wall until you see the Karakul, beware of True Sight Imps, however that usually is never a problem due to merit partys. An Alternate way to get here is through Nashmau. Karakul Skins are non-stackable but sell very fast for 4k each. You can load your inventory, run back to Nashmau, load it into the AH and run back out. Meat sells for 10k a stack. DO NOT USE YOUR TP ON THE KARAKUL. I cannot stress enough not to weaponskill on the Karakul, because everytime they use a tp move they spawn a chigoe, what you want to do is save your tp until a chigoe spawns then quickly switch target to weaponskill and annihilate the little bug, then go back to slaughtering the sheep.

This is a decent farming area for both low and high level farmers. For lower level players one of the main mobs you fight in Valkurm Dunes/Korolokka Tunnel are crabs. The price of Land crab meat is steadily rising due to the fact that well, people don't sell them on the AH in stacks, but people buy them fast as soon as they go up. Lower level players tend to see they NPC for alot and just sell them to a NPC, but don't realize they can make more by stacking them and selling on the Auction House. For higher level players the Robber Crabs are a plenty in Kuftal Tunnel, even with exp partys and skill up partys and other farmers there should be no problem farming crabs since there are 62 Spawns.

The Boyahda tree is also nice for skill up partys/farmers. The lower level crabs at the bottom can be solo'd easily, however the higher level Steelshells may require a NPC or a partner, depending on job choice.

Kuftal tunnel by far has the best drop rate of 30%, and a lower drop rate on the H.Q Shells which NPC sell for 3k each. So for more patient/experienced farmers, farming crabs that drop crab shells (300gil NPC) H.Q Crab shells (3k NPC) and the crab meat itself is definitly a great alternative when your favorite farming spot is overcrowded, seeing as it is never hard to find crabs.

It may even be your main source of income.

Mistletoe, Mistletoe, Mistletoe! Sells lightning fast for 5k on the AH. But so does a stack of Mistletoe for 58K! Misereaux Coast trees basically crap Mistletoe, but RMT on this server figured it out and monopolize the area (boy i cant wait until they are banned). There are a few spawns in Jugner, you have to find yourself and mark their spawn points on your map. There aren't many in Batallia and its a long walk to get there through the Glacier.

There are also higher level Trees in Wajaom Woodlands and Bhaflau Thickets. These con around Decent Challenge to a 75, but easily soloable with skill. Be aware that they do link with the sapling mobs that like to linger around their spawn areas, which could prove a little difficult while soloing. However the drop rate is alot better with these higher level trees. (Tested with TH2). I have seen trees in Caedarve Mire hanging around the area around the zone to Arrapago Reef where you enter for the PUP Quest. Expect pretty heavy competition on trees even the higher level ones in Aht Urghan.

Yes there are Bugard in Lufaise Meadows but the drop rate out there is horrible, thats why you see people in Misareaux Coast. Bugard Skins sell for 500gil each at an NPC, 1k at the AH (depends on your server). The tusk and HQ Bugard skins is what your aiming for, both selling for 3k on the AH, the drop rate is incredible too. You can choose to AH sell NQ Bugard skins but id rather NPC sell them to reimburse the transaction fees of the HQ Skins and Tusks.

Depending on your server you may want to just NPC them, a stack would go for around 7k and thats how much it sells on the AH on Odin, but im not lying when i say these bats shit these bloods, even 3 or 4. Drop rate was incredible i think ill be here instead of Mantas. I want to say the drop rate was atleast 90%
Fiend blood is also a plus however you might want to AH sell them instead of NPC, depending on your server, you might want to check it out for yourself.
NPC Sell the Beastblood for 7k guaranteed stack, no worrying about AH fees or undercutters.

Came here last night to farm Coeurl meat for a cooking recipe, and i found that this place is like running a marathon, so i named it the Marathon Of Coeurls (oh so original) I maped out where the Coeurls are, just run in one big circle starting from the outpost and ending at the outpost then starting again. The Coeurls are on a 5 minute respawn so by the time you are done halfway around one round the ones in the beginning will begin repopping. Check ffxiah.com for prices on these 3 items, varies by server.

Drop rate is moderate i had no complaints.

Your primary item will be Manta skins. This is probably my favorite place to farm them because the drop rate on the skins is unbeleivable, and there are so many in the Peg Powler room that its a constant killing of Octopus ^^. Now another upside to farming these is you dont have to worry about the hassle of the AH, just run to the nation with the highest fame and NPC sell them. Take an open inventory and just fill it with Manta Skins, I usually walk in with 50 open inventory spaces, thats 50k guaranteed without worrying about undercutters.

"Peg Powler" is a lottery spawn of the Flying Mantas here, and with Gilfinder can land you a quick 9k.
